Carers Information

Practice information and support for our highly valued carers.

We at Claremont think that carers are amazing. The assistance that you provide is often unseen but, without doubt, is essential to the health and well-being of your friend, parent or loved-one. Your selfless attention and endless patience is astonishing.

Whilst being tremendously rewarding, being a carer can also be extremely challenging. It is important to consider yourself from time to time to ensure that your own mental and physical health is being looked after.

What we can offer?

We are passionate about maintaining the health of our carers. With this in mind our nursing team offer health checks to all carers, including:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Routine blood testing (checking cholesterol, etc)
  • Condition specific testing (checking on thyroid issues, asthma, COPD, diabetes, etc)
  • Stop smoking support
  • Gym referrals
  • Weight loss
  • …. And much more

Additional support

Mental health and well-being is paramount to being able to continue providing the love and care you do every day. It is natural and normal to require assistance with this now and again.

Below are some links to support organisations who can help in this way:

Devon Carers: A fantastic website with a wealth of information about local services and tips for carers in Devon.

Young Carers: This website is devoted to people under the age of 18 year who are involved in caring for a loved-one.

East Devon Council: For information on council-run services, financial support and much more.


Care Direct: If you think you might require some extra support and care at home for either yourself or a loved-one, Care Direct can assist you in assessing how much help is required and work with you to put this in place.

Mental health support: The Depression and Anxiety Service is available to offer counselling and support for carers. 


Alzheimers Society: Specific support for those caring for someone with dementia. 


Age UK: Advice and support on caring for an elderly person or loved-one.
