Getting medication

Ensuring safe and timely access to medication is one of the cornerstones here at Claremont Medical Practice. National Guidelines, in place to avoid medication errors, unfortunately do not allow us to take medication orders for “repeat prescriptions” over the telephone.

“Repeat prescriptions” are the medications that you take regularly. They are reviewed at intervals agreed with your GP and between these reviews you can order further supplies without seeing the GP. When your review date passes, you may be reminded to see a GP or Nurse to ensure the medication and dose are still treating your condition effectively.

Your “repeat prescriptions” are listed on the right hand side of the paper prescriptions you collect and take to the chemist. This is often referred to as the “repeat slip”.

Please allow 48 hours for this request to be processed.

Here are the most effective methods of obtaining “repeat prescriptions”:

  • Online – via SystmOnline or E-Consult

  • At the Pharmacy – you can hand in your repeat slip with the required medications ticked

  • At Reception - you can hand in your repeat slip with the required medications ticked or complete a medication request form.
